Sony PlayStation 5

Sony PlayStation 5: Release Date

Speaking of Sony PS5 rumors may seem a little early considering the launch of the PS4 just a few months ago but all the biggest info on the PS5 has really come from within Sony itself.

Speaking to MTV, Sony Software Product Development Chief Scott Rhode is happy to share when Sony will start thinking about the new PlayStation console.
"We tend to start thinking about the development of the next system, surprising just a few years into the lifecycle of the current genes."

"Of course soon, we'll start thinking about what we're going to do next, that's the culture at Sony.We always have to do something bigger and better than what's been done."

The boss of Sony UK, Fergal Gara is happy to add this talk more about how attitude change means Sony has to work at a much faster pace.

"This may be a sign of the times and how much has changed in seven years, but I think the desire and the appetite to take on new technologies sooner may have changed little," he said.

Gara is quick to point out that, at least for the next few years; Sony will put a considerable technological muscle behind the PlayStation 4. Sony waited seven years before launching a very popular successor to the PlayStation 3 console.

"We'll have a much better feel to it after we're a good few months and we can see how the dynamics That comes up, "he said.

"What we do know is that the [PS4] uptake will be very sharp, does that mean it will be a much bigger cycle? Maybe, or it may mean that it's just a little more solidified into the first few years, that the last years are A little softer. "

Gara talks to T3.com's sister site, TechRadar on the PS4 launch, which has flown off the shelves since arriving in November 2013 - ushering in the eighth generation of home game consoles.

While the sales figures prove there is more appetite for game consoles than at any point in video game history, the emphasis has been shifted towards covering all the media centers. This process starts with the PS3 and Xbox 360, but has become more important thanks to online streaming services like Netflix and Spotify.

Throw in the fact that many of us are playing games on our smartphones and tablets and the result is the age of ten years cited by console manufacturers could be due to changes. Sony may not want to wait too long before jumping into the console mix for the fifth time, and rumors have started to materialize.

Now we are in June and more rumors are manifesting in terms of potential release date of PS5. The Examiner reports that Sony's next console could have a shorter release cycle than the PS4. Trusted Reviews say they've insider knowledge showing just five or six years of waiting until the Playstation 5 hits the shelves, marking the 2020's all our calendars.

Sony PlayStation 5: Appearance

Since the PlayStation 2 first surfaced back in March 2000, Sony has favored the design of a slim, black box. In the case of PS2 and PS4, it is sharp with the edges of the corners. The PS3 is a bit of a departure as Japanese companies continue with large curved designs before some smaller refreshes.

We will be safe in saying PlayStation 5 tends to follow the same design pattern with square, black chassis and USB and AV port requirements on the front and back.

In fact, some of the early concepts of the PlayStation 5 already exist on the web.

The design team at VoucherCodesPro has created some concept images of what Sony's next machine could look like - as well as other designs for Microsoft's next Xbox and next Nintendo Wii.

As you can see from the picture above, the concept bears a strong resemblance to Sony's PlayStation 4. And, if Sony reveals the new PlayStation faster than the seven-year gap between PS3 and PS4, it could choose to limit its costs by keeping aesthetic design similar to genes currently.

According to the design team, the new PS5 will keep the black coloring but will use the power of blue light: "the color that has become synonymous with PlayStation for years."

We're sure this will not be the last PlayStation 5 concept you'll see for the next few years - but let us know your thoughts on VoucherCodesPro's efforts.

Sony PlayStation 5: Price

When it comes to the price of a new console, there are no hard and fast rules to predict in advance. What we can do, is look back at the relative launch price of each successive generation to produce Sony's approximate plan figures.

When the PS2 was launched, it was priced at £ 300 - the same price as the first PlayStation that arrived back in 1995.

Sony's price launch took a dramatic rise with the PS3 coming with a £ 425 RRP -. Especially when compared to $ 599 US prices, which is almost the same as the £ 300 standard back in 2007 It was this price that lost PS3 ground to a premium Xbox 360 which cost £ 279 at launch.

Finally, Sony reversed the position by setting the PS4 price at £ 349 when it was launched in the UK last month. It's significantly cheaper than the £ 429 Xbox One, although it does not come with a bundled Kinect camera.

Taking all of that into account, Sony's chances are that the PlayStation 5 price will be between £ 350 and £ 400 when it finally comes out. If we hear a rumor about the price of the PS5, we will update this page.
